Project Life

About 3 years ago I stumbled upon something called Project Life. And while I would love to have the time to sit down and fiddle with papers, journal cards and embellishment. Most mothers would know that with two small children, loose papers gets pilfered, stickers end up all over the house and you have no time.
So I went with the digital option. Becky Higgins has one version, the Project Life app which is great for on the go and for super easy scrapping. You can even print your pages right from the app. Then you have photoshop which I use for my pages. Of course there are many other software out there made for scrapping, but photoshop is easy enough once you get familiar. For scrap goodies such as patterned paper, embellishments, journal cards and templates I get from stores like Sweet Shoppe Designs, The Lily Pad and some from Becky Higgins (whom also have a digital store).
And I have now made 3 years worth of memories into photo books, for me and for the kids.

The beautiful part of digital scrapbooking isn't just that it's quick and easy, but you can use your supplies over and over again and never run out. You can print as many copies as you need and you save money (unless you're like me and spend too much on all the gorgeousness).

I have found that to keep organised I make folders for each week (as my albums are weekly spreads as opposed to monthly) with the dates and week number. In these folders I organise my photos, this way I can easily find them in case I get behind on my pages. For the memories themselves and the funny things my kids say each day, I have found that writing a daily journal has helped med remember. Just a few words about where we were, what we did, who we met and the everyday stuff. For this I have found a dated planner/journal works wonders, in my case the Inkwell Press planner quarterlies.

So I decided I would share my folders with you, that way you can save the few minutes it takes making them. They are all ready dated mon - sun and ready to use. I hope you enjoy!

Scrapbook and memory keeping.

This is why I scrapbook.

From time to time I come across people who wish they could find the time to sit down and make an album or a scrapbook. They wonder how I find time to make these gorgeous albums of mine.
Well, I do not have much time for it. Simply put. But I do try to make it a priority in my daily life. I told myself to spend 5 minutes every evening to sit down and write a few words about my day. Another daily goal is to take pictures each day, some days I take a lot and other days I completely forget it. But the important thing is that I try. The quality or subject of the pictures I take is not something epic or never before seen. It is my everyday experiences, the food I am eating, the book I am currently reading or something I found amusing. If you decide to start your own project, remeber what is important to you. Capture that moment that made you laugh or the delicious dish you had at that new restaurant.

Then there are those who do not understand why I spend time on this at all. Well I do this because I wish to remember, I want my children to be able to look back at their earlier years and remember. One day I will be old, I might forget who I am, what I have lived through and who my children were. I wish to tell my story. I will have books filled with memories, feelings and love. That is why I scrapbook. And my children love their books, and I love looking through their albums with them.

I hope you feel inspired to try your own way of preserving your memories. Perhaps you'll try your hand at scrapbooking, or just a journal to write down your thoughts. If you do decide to start your own project, remeber what is important to you. Capture that moment that made you laugh or the delicious dish you had at that new restaurant.

I hope to share more on how I make my pages, so keep an eye out if this is something you might want to read about.

New blog

I don't know the first thing about blogging. I can barely set up my own blog and just getting this thing up and running has turned out more work than I antisipated. I tried a fancy Wordpress blog, but that was too much hassle, I have no idea how to code and I don't really speak computer. So back to good old blogger I go. Hopefully I get to share a little bit about the things that interest me, the things that inspire me and the things I love. If I can inspire you or just share one of the amazing things I've come across on my internet wanderings then that's great. I hope you'll choose to hang out here on my blog.
